FAQ
Here are the answers to some questions I get asked a lot!
Why are you vegan?
I have been vegan for a year and a half now. I am vegan for the animals, the planet and my health, in that order. I decided to turn vegan after realising that by being militant about not having any beauty products (make up, shower gel, shampoo etc) that were tested on animals, yet still eating animal products, I was being a bit a lot of a hypocrite and not true to my own personal values and ethics. I made the change and stopped smoking in the same month. I have never been healthier, and knowing that I’m living a cruelty-free lifestyle is totally rad.
What does PMA mean?
PMA stands for Positive Mental Attitude. The wonderful Jetta Vegas describes it as
“…[rejecting] feelings of negativity, guilt, self-loathing, anger, hate or other counterproductive feelings … PMA is not simply about being in a good mood. It’s an entirely different attitude, where you see life in a totally different way.”
Why feminism? Isn’t it all over and done with these days/bra-burning man haters?
Um, no. It’d take me a whole book to explain every reason why we still need feminism, so I’ll just refer you to my feminist group, Black Lashes, and if you still need convincing, go check out @EverydaySexism on Twitter.
So, you’re a writer, huh? What are you writing at the moment?
3 different novels! I am also writing short stories and poetry for my undergraduate degree, and articles for this blog, obvs.
What’s this I hear about a cat?
You heard correct! This is Helo:
He is not always this graceful. Sometimes he likes to be girly:
…but mainly, he is just a lovely pretty little boy. He is 2 years old, and is my fur baby.
What do you use to take your photos?
As much as I’d love a shiny camera, at the moment all my photos are taken on my iPhone 5 using the Camera+ App.
